Fire pumps are essential components of a building's fire protection system, especially in high-rise structures. In buildings with levels from 400-500 ft. and higher, fire pumps are critical in distributing water through sprinkler systems where water pressure from water mains and firefighting equipment cannot reach.

Fire hydrant installation consists of a system of pipe work connected directly to the water supply main to provide water to every hydrant outlet and is intended to provide water for the firemen to fight a fire. The water is discharged into the fire engine form which it is then pumped and sprayed over fire.

Sprinkler system, in fire control, a means of protecting a building against fire by causing an automatic discharge of water, usually from pipes near the ceiling.

Pre-Action system generally requires two separate fire detection signals in order to operate. Thus the systems are effectively designed for water sensitive areas that require protection from inadvertent water flow into the sprinkler system piping.
